Dual or Co-Extrusion and Tri-Extrusion are a part of our manufacturing process where two or three materials are extruded through a die that has two or more openings.
A dual-extrusion is the combination of two different thermoplastic materials as a single profile.
A tri-extrusion is a combination of three different materials that are bonded to form a single profile.
The extruded materials merge together into a single fused part.
We can provide different finishes, multiple colors, combinations of rigid and soft materials. Each extruded layer can add a different characteristic or property to the finished part. Rigidity, stiffness, softness, flexibility, heat resistance, or chemical impermeability, all in one part.
By operating 2 or 3 extruders into a single die, we can combine materials of differing durometers or colors into a single part. We can extrude multi-layer tubings, rigid parts with hinges, soft or protective skins, colored stripes, etc.
